Welcome to Canine Helpers for the Disabled Inc, we have recently changed our name from Animal Assisted Therapy Australia to better reflect the ways in which we serve people with disabilities.

Dexter and Kate

Training assistance dogs for people with disabilities.

Canine Helpers provides services to people with disabilities and their carers, as well as professionals who work in the disability and health care fields. We do this by providing highly trained Assistance Dogs, including:

  • Service Dogs for people with physical disabilities
  • Hearing Dogs for people who are hearing impaired and
  • Therapy Dogs for people with many other types of disabilities
  • as well as Facility dogs which work in Special Schools and other group settings

Canine Helpers is a full voting member of Assistance Dogs International (ADI) and all of our dogs are trained according to ADI standards.

Canine Helpers does not perform therapy visitation services, i.e for nursing homes or hospitals, so we cannot certify your dog for this service.
